«Back Beaver Chase Running Series
May 11, June 8, July 13 and August 10th 2010Innovation Drive, Kanata Organized by the Run Ottawa Club, runners of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part in the 1-mile or 4-mile events, which start and finish on Innovation Drive in Kanata. The 4-mile course meanders through the Monk Conservation Area in Kanata Lakes and Morgan’s Grant. Course InformationThe start and finish is on Innovation Drive near the corner of Hines Road. The 1 mile event is an out and back, with the turn around on Innovation Drive. The 4 mile event continues on Innovation Drive and then hooks up with the recreational pathway that winds through the Monk Conservation Trail and eventually winds it way to Hines Road and back to the finish on Innovation Drive. Timing/Results: All events in the Beaver Chase Series are manually timed. Volunteers call out times at the finish line and each runner is to record their times on the form provided. Results will be posted on the Run Ottawa Club website shortly thereafter. Entry FeesThe cost for each Beaver Chase run is $5 per person for any runner 13 years of age or older. Youth 12 years and under run free. Participants can pay each month for that event or in advance for all four. We will accept full payment of the Series up until the first event, at a cost of $15 per person. You can do this in person or online up until the day of the first event. Beaver Chase Series tech t-shirts can be ordered on-line or ordered no later than the conclusion of the July 13th event. Race Day InformationDates: Tuesdays – May 11, June 8, July 13 and August 10th Both the 1 and 4 mile events commence at 6:30. Registration commences at 5:30 p.m. right up until 6:25 or so. ServicesThere is one water station in the 4 mile event and each mile is marked. Marshals are posted in key locations to guide participants along the course. Water is also provided at the start/finish line. DirectionsThe venue for the Beaver Chase Series is the Royal Canadian Legion, 70 Hines Road in Kanata north. Take the 417 to the Eagleson/March Road exit, stay right and proceed northwest on March Road to Solandt Road (just past MDS Nordion) and turn left at the Esso “On the Run” outlet. Take it to the end and then a right on Hines Road to the Legion. Volunteer InquiriesIt takes 6 volunteers to stage a Beaver Chase event. If you cannot run or just want to lend a hand, let us know.
